Some unsolicited testimonials for Renaissance banjo heads (used with permission):
...the two Renaissance banjo heads arrived safely on Wednesday.
On Thursday I put the first on my OME Juggernaut III tenor banjo
(flat top) with GHS-strings and a Richelieu bridge (5/8").
And on Friday evening I played the banjo during a gig with my
7 piece jazz band. It was great!
The guys in the band liked the sound from the first moments on.

For me this head looks good, feels good, and it sounds very, very good.
Better than all plastic heads I used till last Thursday.
I think the Remo's new heads have the full, rich, and clear sound of
the calf skins but with all the advantages of modern plastic heads.
I only can recommend it my tenor colleagues!
Uli

I spent the first half of the day putting my new R. head on my incredible recently acquired Alden/DeCava man-in-the-moon banjo as an experiment. It had a Fiberskyn on it and I didn't think it could possibly sound any more yummy than it already did, but..... I was WRONG! Interestingly, the first couple of hours of adjusting and playing yielded a sound that seemed slightly more clear, resonant, and less thick than the Fiberskin head, so I was pleased. A couple hours later I returned to it and it seemed to have gotten about twice as wonderful sounding as before! Odd, I don't think it was all my imagination. This banjo was WAY loud enough to begin with, so I had put the head on snug but not tight. The same with the tailpiece tension--snug but not very tight. This sound is so incredible -like dark sweet honey or something. The only head I ever liked THIS much was a really thin 12" calfskin I originally got on my Woody which I eventually had to replace with a Fiberskyn due to extreme humidity playing frustrations. And I like this Renaissance head sound way BETTER than that calfskin!! I am a True Believer. Lisa
I was on a trip [...] and your shipment of the 12 inch Renaissance banjo head was at home upon returning. I looked it over and mounted it on my banjo last night. It changed the look of the banjo. I cannot say it is a good change look-wise yet, since it is new, but it looks good. It seated well and fit perfectly. The banjo seems at this point to have more sustain, volume, etc., yet is not bright like a bluegrass head. I like it. The translucent nature of the head is nice. I have a friend in Tennessee that just released a C.D. playing a custom banjo. He put me on to this head and I recommended him to try it. [...] So, thanks for the help. You were both courteous and prompt. David
Well, you did yourself out of a sale.I've decided to keep the banjo that I was going to consign with you and it's partly your own fault. At the MBA you and Mike (Ramsey) were raving about the new banjo heads. As you know I respect both of your opinions so I took a couple home. How good could it be? Well, this banjo was almost what I wanted and I had stopped playing it. So when I went to sell it I figured I'd put the new head on because you'd mentioned that you were putting them on your own banjos. How good could it be? Wow. It's like a different banjo. This is the banjo that I wanted and all that was missing was the head. The banjo is loud, full, round, clear, toneful... what else can I say? Oh yeah I know... Thanks for turning me on to the head Rik.
Rec'd the two banjo heads yesterday and installed the 0 15/16" on my '24 Whyte Laydie this morning-- what a nice head!! Looks alone make it worth the effort, but the performance is quite another bonus. Please send three more 10 15/16" heads and please let me know when mid-size 10's and 11's will be available. Mike
