Some misc. new Banjos currently in stock at ZEPP Country Music, Inc. include the following:
- Florida Banjo Mountain Man's model by Marty Spencer
- Marty is making some very nice banjos and has been using some really neat woods. This prototype Mountain Man's model is an maple banjo, with a multi-laminate neck, predominantly of flamed maple. The banjo has a scooped, ebony fingerboard with a classic star at the 5th fret. The peghead has a beautiful, burled overlay, and has Gotoh brand planetary tuners installed.
- Marty makes the 11-inch pot of block flamed maple, and it has a rolled brass tone ring and a handsome, neck-matching dowel stick.
- The banjo has a great sound, being set up with a Renaissance head and a No-Knot tailpiece, and it's truly easy to play.
- Sold
- Florida Banjo Workingman's "A" Scale model by Marty Spencer
- This is a mahogany banjo with a multi-laminate, short, "A" scale neck (23-1/8 inch) to make playing an D and A a capo-less breeze. The ebony fingerboard is scooped, and has a classic star inlay at the 5th fret. The peghead has a handsome overlay, and has Gotoh brand tuners installed.
- Marty makes the 11-inch pot of block mahogany, with an Ipe wood tone ring.
- The banjo has a sweet sound, being set up with a Renaissance head and a No-Knot tailpiece, and it's ready to take to an Old-Time jam!.
- List Price is $1295. Our price is
$1150.
This particular banjo suffered a chip by the 5th string peg during its building. The chip was repaired by Marty and has no effect on playability, tone, or Marty's warranty, but it is visible, so Marty knocked $50 off for me, and I'm passing that along, so this particular banjo is "scratch & dent" priced at $1100. A hardshell case is, of course, available. Sold
- Bill Rickard Tu-Ba-Phone
- Bill Rickard is a well known maker of metal parts for banjos, and is a major supplier to some of the better known builders. What many folks don't know is that he occasionally builds whole banjos!
- When I saw Bill at Clifftop, he sent this gorgeous maple and walnut Tu-Ba-Phone back with me. The maple is beautiful, being a bird's eye figure. The ebony overlain peghead is simple and plain, and has planetary tuners, of course. The ebony fingerboard has beautiful abalone dot inlays, a MOP star at the 5th fret, and maple bindings.
- The 11-inch walnut pot has a Rickard-made Tu-Ba-Phone tone ring, and has a handsome marquetry decorative ring inlaid in the outside. It is set up with a Renaissance head, No-Knot tailpiece, and a Moon bridge for a wonderful sound!
- This one-off piece sounds as good as it looks and is SOLD.
